NTA asks JEE Mains 2026 BTech aspirants to update Aadhaar details before registration. (Image: Wikimedia Commons)

JEE Main 2026 Registration: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to begin the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 registration process soon on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The engineering entrance exam will be conducted in two sessions — from January 21 to 30, 2026, and from April 1 to 10, 2026. The NTA has recently asked BTech aspirants planning to appear for JEE Main 2026 to verify and update their Aadhaar details before the commencement of the registration process.

Candidates seeking admission to BTech courses at various engineering colleges across the country, including IITs, NITs, and centrally funded technical institutions, will be able to complete their JEE Mains 2026 registrations through Aadhar card along with personal and academic details.

The JEE Mains 2026 session 1 will be conducted from January 21 to 30, 2026, whereas session 2 will take place from April 1 to 10, 2026, the NTA announced.

Update Aadhar data: NTA to JEE Mains 2026 aspirants

Students should have to ensure that their Aadhar data , such as name, date of birth, address, photograph, and gender, are accurate and latest, as these details will be directly fetched from UIDAI through Aadhaar authentication for the upcoming exam, as per NTA's guidelines.

As per the NTA guidelines, the limit of JEE attempts has been set at three consecutive years.

Male candidates of unreserved category should have to pay Rs 1,000 as JEE Mains 2026 as registration fee. Those belonging to General- Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Other Backward Classes (OBC) will have to pay Rs 900 as application form charges.

Females in unreserved, Gen-EWS, OCT should have to pay Rs 800, while Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Disability (PwD), transgender category can pay Rs 500 as registration charges.

JEE Mains Registration 2026: Female participation remains around 35%; overall drops by 7.09%

Last year, a total of 10,61,840 candidates registered for the JEE Mains 2025 exams, and 9,92,350 of them appeared in Session 2. The data also showed a JEE Main registration gender gap and participation difference as follows.

JEE Mains 2026 required eligibility

The minimum JEE Mains 2026 eligibility criteria are as follows.

  • Students who have passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025, appearing in 2026
  • Students must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in Class 12, along with any subject from Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational subject.
  • No minimum marks are required
  • No age limit

JEE Main Registration 2026: NTA clarifies exam city rumour

JEE Advanced 2026 rank insights

Candidates qualifying JEE Main 2026 will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2026, expected to be conducted by IIT Roorkee. Based on last year’s data, a score between 278 and 332 in JEE Advanced 2025 corresponded to ranks between 1 and 101, while candidates scoring around 250 marks secured ranks up to 500. The minimum score for top ranks has shown minor variation over the last five years.
