The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 1 from January 21 to 30, 2026, for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programmes. The JEE Main 2026 session 2 exam will be conducted from April 1 to 10, 2026. JEE Mains 2026 Registration LIVE

The testing agency has not yet opened the registration window for JEE Main 2026, but it is expected to commence soon. Engineering aspirants will be able to register for the exam through the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, once registration is open.

The NTA has not yet officially announced the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam time and shifts. However, based on past year trends, the exam is expected to be conducted in two shifts.

The morning shift will be conducted from 9 am to 12 pm and an afternoon shift from 3 pm to 6 pm. For Paper 2, the exam is expected to be conducted in a single shift, either from 9 am to 12:30 pm or 3 pm to 6:30 pm, depending on the specific exam date.

To appear for the exam, students will have to meet the JEE Main 2026 eligibility criteria, which require candidates to have passed or be appearing in the qualifying examination. The exam will follow the JEE Main 2026 exam pattern, carrying multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with a total of 90 marks.

JEE Main 2026: Special provisions for PwD candidates

The JEE Main 2026 exam will be conducted in multiple cities across India. This year, the testing agency is increasing the number of JEE main exam centres to provide wider access and convenience for candidates.

Special arrangements are also being made to address the requirements of Persons with Disabilities (PwD/ PwBD) candidates, ensuring a smooth and inclusive exam process.

The NTA earlier issued an advisory for students appearing in JEE Main 2026 and instructed BTech, BArch, and BPlanning aspirants to update their Aadhaar, UDID card, and category certificates (EWS, SC, ST, OBC-NCL) in advance to avoid discrepancies in the online application form.

Once the JEE Main 2026 results are declared, candidates who meet the required JEE Main cut-off will be eligible for the counselling process, which facilitates admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other participating institutes.

Candidates who qualify the JEE Main also become eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced, which is the entrance exam for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
