JEE Main 2026: Normalisation method
The JEE Main 2026 scores or percentile for each subject will be calculated using the normalisation formula as follows:
|
Total Percentile (T1P) |
(100 x No. of candidates from the session with a raw score equal to or less than T1 score) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session |
|
Mathematics Percentile (M1P) |
(100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with a raw score equal to or less than than M1 score in Mathematics) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session |
|
Chemistry Percentile (C1P): |
(100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with a raw score equal to or less than C1 score in Chemistry) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session |
|
Physics Percentile (P1P) |
(100 x No. of candidates appeared from the session with raw score equal to or less than P1 score in Physics) / Total No. of candidates who appeared in the session |

JEE Main 2026 Registration: Engineering enrolment hits five-year high
Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal and Odisha recorded the highest enrolment rates in engineering for 2024-25, with the all-India rate reaching 75%, driven largely by computer science and allied courses. Experts warn that artificial intelligence may reduce job opportunities in these fields over the next two-three years, potentially affecting future enrolments. Core branches like civil and mechanical engineering continue to see lower intake due to limited job prospects and lower salaries compared to IT and computer science roles.
