MCC NEET PG 2025 Counselling: Priority-based NRI allotment; first, second-degree relatives eligible

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced changes in the admission process for the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota candidates in the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling 2025. The NRI seat allotment will be based on a priority system and first-degree relatives will also be eligible as NRI wards. NEET PG counselling 2025 live updates.

As per the MCC NEET PG 2025 information bulletin, there will be two categories – priority 1 and priority 2. NRI candidates and children of NRIs will be given first priority in allotment of MD, MS, DnB admissions. The first-degree relatives including real uncle, real aunt, and grandparents and second-degree relatives will be placed under priority 2.

“The allotment process will be carried out in sequential order, giving preference to priority 1 candidates first, followed by priority 2 candidates, subject to seat availability,” MCC said.

The counselling committee has also updated the list of mandatory documents required for applying for NRI quota in NEET PG 2025 counselling which includes proof of NRI status of parent or relative of the candidate.

NEET PG counselling registration 2025 has finally started for All India Quota (AIQ) seats in MD, MS programmes on mcc.nic.in after a prolonged delay over the Supreme Court case and a possible pending approval of NEET PG 2025 seat matrix by the National Medical Commission ( NMC ). However, the NEET PG counselling schedule 2025 has not been announced yet.

The allotment of seats under the NRI category will be conducted based on the following priority system:

Priority 1:

  • NRI Candidates
  • Children of NRIs

Priority 2:

First-degree relatives of NRI wards.

  • Real brother and sister of father, that is, real uncle and real aunt.
  • Real brother and sister of mother, that is, real maternal uncle and maternal aunt.
  • Father and mother of father, that is, grandfather and grandmother.
  • Father and mother of mother, that is, maternal grandfather and maternal grandmother.

Second-degree relatives of NRI wards

  • First degree-paternal and maternal cousins

NEET PG 2025 Counselling: Documents required for NRI quota

Candidates who want to fill NRI choices will be required to send the required documents on email Id nri.adgmemcc1@gmail.com before each round of counselling. The documents sent by candidates will be scrutinized by MCC and those who are found eligible for NRI quota will be shown choices of available seats.

As per the revised guidelines, the list of documents for NRI quota is as follows:

  • NEET UG 2025 admit card and scorecard
  • Proof of NRI status of the parent or relative: Valid Passport Visa / Residence Permit / Work Permit
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card / PIO card, if applicable
  • NRI Certificate issued by the competent authority (Embassy / Indian Consulate).
  • Certificate of relationship between the NRI relative and the candidate issued by the competent revenue authority through the family tree.
  • Affidavit (notarised) by the NRI relative stating that they will sponsor the entire course fee and living expenses of the candidate during the period of study duly supported by NRE (Non-Resident External) bank account passbook.
  • Class 10, 12 certificate and marksheet
  • Birth certificate
  • Passport of candidate or sponsorer (optional)
