MCC NEET UG 2025 round 2 counselling extended after addition of 197 new medical seats

Try NowThe Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025 round 2 counselling. The extension follows the addition of 197 seats in the round 2 seat matrix and ongoing scrutiny of non-Resident Indian (NRI) documents.

As per the official notice, the revised schedule for NEET UG round 2 counselling will be uploaded on the official MCC website at mcc.nic.in in the coming days. The MCC has directed candidates who have already submitted their preferences to update their choices to include the newly added seats.
“It is for the information of candidates that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS is in the process of adding newly accredited seats sent by NMC in the seat matrix of Round-2 of UG Counselling 2025. In addition, the scrutiny of NRI documents is in progress. Hence, the competent authority has decided to extend the schedule of Round-2 of UG Counselling 2025,” the official notice said.
Newly added seats for NEET UG round 2 counselling
The newly added seats include 9 at ESIC Medical College, Hyderabad, under the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme (ESI) quota. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belagavi, has 158 Deemed/Paid seats and 30 Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota seats. These 197 seats are now available for choice filling in NEET UG round 2 counselling 2025.
The extension will affect the overall timeline of round 2 counselling, including seat allotment and reporting to colleges. As per the earlier schedule, NEET UG round 2 choice filling and locking was scheduled till today, September 9, 2025. The processing of seat allotment was planned for September 10 to 11, 2025.
According to the earlier NEET UG 2025 round 2 seat matrix issued by the MCC, a total of 1,134 newly added MBBS and BDS seats were included. In addition, 7,088 virtual vacancy seats and 13,501 clear vacancy seats were available across MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing courses.
Recently, the MCC added five new medical colleges for issuing Persons with Disabilities (PwD) certificates for NEET UG round 2 counselling 2025, after AIIMS Manglagiri was removed from the list of disability centres.
