The update comes after months of uncertainty due to Supreme Court petitions over the NEET PG 2025 answer key, giving candidates the first official timeline for admissions.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is likely to start NEET PG 2025 counselling for MD, MS admissions by mid-October, according to the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA). The doctors’ body cited its communication with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

States including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Gujarat have started NEET PG counselling 2025 for admissions to 50% state quota seats in MD, MS programmes.

Demanding the NEET PG counselling schedule, a candidate said in a post, "NEET PG 2025 exam held on August 3, result on August 19. It’s been over a month and MCC has still not announced AIQ counselling schedule. Around 2 lakh candidates are awaiting. Kindly do something."

In NEET PG counselling 2025, the stray vacancy round is the last round of admissions. Candidates who either did not get a seat in the previous rounds or did not join the allotted college are allowed to participate in the final round.

The Jammu and Kashmir government proposed a two-year NEET PG bond to improve the healthcare system. Under the bond policy, the students who complete their PG courses will be required to serve in rural hospitals or pay Rs 50 lakh if they choose to opt out.

Recalling that NEET PG 2025 was conducted on August 3 and NEET PG result 2025 declared on August 19, the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) has urged the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to expedite the NEET PG counselling process, arguing that delay will cause shortage of doctors.

"Tenure of PG Batch 2022 ending in October. We urge MCC to expedite the counselling process for NEET PG 2025. Delays will cause a severe shortage, overburdening government hospitals across India!," said FORDA in a post on X.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) issued the NEET PG 2025 merit list for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in MD, MS, other postgraduate medical programmes following the NEET PG result 2025. NMC has directed medical colleges to discontinue the facial QR code-based attendance devices from October 1. The commission has previously directed the medical college faculty members to use the FACE-based mobile Aadhar authentication app to mark their attendance.

The Director General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh has debarred 148 candidates from participating UP NEET PG counselling 2025. The candidates have been debarred for not joining or resigning from the MD, MS seats allotted to them in the stray vacancy round last year.

According to the NEET PG admission guidelines issued last year, “If any candidate does not take admission after allotment from the stray vacancy round, the security deposit of such candidate will be forfeited and he/she will be barred from UP NEET PG counselling 2025-26”.
