NIIT University says new programme blends finance academics with internships, consulting mentorship, AI analytics and software-based practical training for direct workplace readiness
National Institute of Information Technology University (NIIT) University has partnered with Grant Thornton Bharat(GTBharat) LLP to introduce a new BBA (Applied Finance) course aimed at integrating undergraduate finance education with direct industry exposure and consulting-oriented skill development.
As per the NIIT University press note the course has been structured as an employment-linked business degree rather than a conventional classroom-heavy commerce course. Admissions for the newly introduced BBA Applied Finance programme are now open and candidates can apply NIIT’s official website at niituniversity.in
The collaboration has been presented by NIIT University as an attempt to move finance education closer to direct workplace application, with stronger emphasis on software-based learning, consulting exposure and practical business problem-solving during the undergraduate degree itself. NIIT University in the press note said the new course has been jointly built with GTBharat to respond to this changing hiring pattern.

The release also outlined that the university will continue to handle academic instruction, internal assessment and campus delivery, while GTBharat will participate in curriculum inputs, industry mentorship, internships, project supervision and evaluation support. The course is expected to open admissions immediately for the coming academic cycle.
NIIT University: Applied finance, industry immersion
The university said students enrolled in the applied finance track will undergo up to 18 months of structured industry practice with stipend-backed engagement, alongside a curriculum that remains largely application-led rather than theory-dependent.
The NIIT communication further noted that students will receive practical training in:
- Excel-based financial modelling
- Python applications in finance
- SAP enterprise systems
- Power BI dashboards
- AI-assisted business analytics
NIIT University president Prakash Gopalan said the collaboration is intended to ensure students become “active participants in real industry environments” rather than passive learners. GTBharat partner Kapil Arora similarly said the co-created curriculum is meant to give students “a genuine head-start in their careers.”
