All schools in Gautam Buddha Nagar will be shut tomorrow, August 21, in view of Guru Dronacharya Mela, as per a Times of India report. The district administration has ordered school closure to ensure student safety amid large-scale celebrations in the Greater Noida area, the report said.

As per the administration order, classes will remain suspended in all government and private schools. With the school closure, the administration reportedly intends to manage heavy traffic and crowd movement expected during the festival.

The order states that schools will be closed for physical classes due to the event which is expected to witness devotees in thousands, as a result of which multiple roads will be closed around the venue and there will be traffic-related disturbance, the TOI report said.

Earlier, the schools in the district were ordered shut on July 23 in view of heavy crowds and traffic due to Kanwar Yatra.

Schools across the country have declared holidays for different reasons, major being heavy rainfall. Schools in Thane, Panvel, and Navi Mumbai districts of Maharashtra remained closed today amid a rain alert. Earlier, BMC also declared holidays for schools and colleges in Mumbai. Jammu schools were also shut due to rain.
