Odisha Civil Services Prelims exam 2024 on October 12: OPSC

The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has announced the date for civil services (preliminary) examination 2024. Accordingly, OPSC CSE Prelims will be conducted on October 12, 2025. The official notification is available on the official website, opsc.gov.in.

"In continuation to this Office Notice No. 3207/PSC, dt-15.05.2025, it is for information of all concerned that, the Commission has decided to conduct the Odisha Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination-2024, pursuant to Advt. No. 07 of 2024-25 on 12.10.2025 (Sunday). The detailed programme of the said examination shall be notified later," said the commission in the latest notification.

The eligibility criteria for OCSE is as follows:

  • Candidates must be a citizen of India.
  • Applicants must be between 21 and 38 years of age as on January 1, 2025.
  • Candidates must hold a graduation degree from an institution recognised by the University Grants Commission.
  • Candidates must be able to read, write and speak Odia language.

OCSE 2024 exam pattern, marking scheme

As per the OPSC CSE exam pattern, the prelims exam comprises two compulsory objective-type papers -- general studies paper 1 and general studies paper 2. The duration of each paper is two hours and carries a maximum of 200 marks.

There will be a negative marking for incorrect answers for all questions except some of the questions where the negative marking shall be inbuilt in the form of different marks being awarded to the most appropriate and not so appropriate answer for such questions. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question shall be deducted as penalty.

The detailed notification containing OCSE application form date, syllabus, exam pattern, marking scheme, mains exam details, vacancies, and more will be released later.

OPSC combined competitive recruitment exam is conducted in three stages – Preliminary, Mains and personality test or interview.
