QS World University Rankings 2025: IIT Delhi ranks among top 150 universities; improves by 47 places

NEW DELHI: According to the QS world university rankings 2025, recently unveiled on Wednesday, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi) has secured a prestigious position among the top 150 universities globally. This marks an achievement for the institute, as it has ascended 47 places from its previous standing of 197th in the rankings.
According to the IIT Delhi press release, the institution ranks within the top 100 global universities in terms of Employer Reputation, a QS metric aimed at assessing how global employers perceive which institutions produce graduates best prepared for employment opportunities.
Ranking Factors: Citations per faculty and academic reputation
The Institute has been included in the top 150 universities based on metrics such as Citations per Faculty, which measures the average number of citations per faculty member and reflects the impact and quality of the scientific output produced by universities. Additionally, it has achieved recognition in terms of Academic Reputation, assessed through a Reputation Survey to gauge global academics' perceptions of institutions demonstrating academic excellence.

The Institute has secured a place among the top 5 Indian institutions across various QS rankings parameters, including academic reputation, employer reputation, employment outcomes, and international research network. The official press release states, "IIT Delhi has surpassed 90% of institutions in terms of rankings this year from a list of over 5000 institutes evaluated by the QS."
QS world university rankings by subject 2024
In April 2024, the QS world university rankings by Subject unveiled IIT Delhi's position among the top 50 institutions globally in the broader field of engineering and eechnology, securing the 45th spot. Additionally, the institute earned a place among the top 100 institutions worldwide in eight specific subject areas.
