Download EBookThe National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) UG medical and dental counselling board 2025, Rajasthan has informed that reporting and joining by candidates at Vyas Dental College has been suspended till further orders in compliance with a high court judgement in a case over reduction of BDS seats.
In September last year, the Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan High Court quashed the central government’s order reducing the number of seats in the dental college from 100 to 50. The court observed that the order was in violation of regulations as no proper notice or a copy of the inspection report, which found discrepancies, was provided to the college before the cancellation of seats.
The dental college was asked to file its reply to the discrepancies pointed out by the Dental Council of India (DCI)’s report. The court had directed the central government to pass a fresh order based on the response.
During the time period, the institute was allowed to admit students on 50 seats only. HC had said that if the final order allows full recognition, the college will be permitted to offer 100 seats in the NEET UG counselling .
Rajasthan High Court case
The decision came after the Rajasthan dental college challenged the government’s order, arguing that it was only for the 2023 session and not for reduction of seats.
“With respect to the communication dated 22.08.2025 received from RUHS, Jaipur and in compliance of the judgement dated 22.05.2025 passed by Hon'ble Rajasthan High Court at Jodhpur in SBCWP no. 16667/2023 and connected matters, the reporting and joining by candidates in Vyas Dental College, Jodhpur is hereby suspended till further orders,” the counselling board said in the latest notice.
Recently, Rajasthan NEET UG 2025 seat allotment result was declared on August 20, wherein 41 candidates were BDS allotted seats in the dental college. Students were asked to report to the allotted institutes by August 26.
