NEW DELHI: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched a complimentary, voluntary online investor certification examination to provide individuals with comprehensive knowledge about stock market investing. Developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), this initiative aims to help investors test and enhance their understanding of markets and investment strategies.
Interested individuals can apply for the SEBI certification by creating an account on the NISM website first. They will have to choose the investor certification exam and then complete the registration process by providing their personal and professional details. They are also required to upload scanned copies of documents such as PAN card or other photo identification.
Applicants have also been advised to review the application form before submitting. The confirmation page should be downloaded from the official website for future reference.
Investor Certification Exam: Highlights
This investor certification examination helps investors test their knowledge of market mechanisms and investment strategies, as stated by NISM. The exam covers topics such as market operations, investment processes, and risk management, ensuring participants acquire a holistic understanding of the securities market. There is no negative marking, and candidates receive one mark for each correct response. Concerns about the answer key can be raised within the specified timeframe, after which a final answer key is issued, it said.
Ananth Narayan G, a long-time member of SEBI, highlighted the significance of this step toward enhancing digital financial education. “This online exam will help enhance investors' understanding of the investment process and the associated risks in the securities market, promoting an efficient approach to investment aligned with the risk appetite of the investor,” he said.
