Following the University Grants Commission (UGC)’s list of universities which have failed to submit and upload self-disclosure information, Sikkim Alpine University, among the defaulters, has clarified that it has provided the required details. The private university stated that it is in communication with the commission for the removal of its name from the list.

Recently, UGC issued a list of 54 state private universities that failed to submit the information under Section 13 of the UGC Act, 1956, or have not uploaded the public self-disclosure information on their respective websites. The commission asked the listed institutions to immediately comply with the directions.

The Citizen Action Party (CAP) raised serious concerns regarding the inclusion of four universities of the North-Eastern region in the UGC list, as per a local media report. The opposition party called it an act of negligence and lack of transparency, urging the state government to intervene.

Issuing a clarification on its official website, the Sikkim-based university said, “It is hereby informed that Sikkim Alpine University, which has been shown in the list of defaulting universities for not submitting information under Section 13 of the UGC Act, 1956, would like to clarify as follows,” and added:

  • The university has already uploaded the required public self-disclosure information on its official website.
  • The university has duly furnished and submitted the requisite information under Section 13 of the UGC Act, 1956 to the University Grants Commission (UGC).
  • The university is in active communication with the UGC for delisting its name from the defaulting universities list.
  • The university reiterates its commitment to comply with all statutory requirements and directions issued by the competent authorities.
