The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has postponed the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2025 examination for around 28 lakh candidates. The competitive exam will be conducted in the first week of September.

Earlier, the commission has announced that it will hold the SSC CGL 2025 exam from August 13. The postponement comes amid the ongoing technical difficulties experienced during the recent SSC examinations, including server issues, system malfunctioning, and far-off centre allotment.

“The exam will now start from the first week of September 2025 and a revised schedule for CGLE and all other subsequent exams will soon be posted on the website of the Commission,” the commission said in an official statement.

In its latest notification, the commission also announced that it will conduct a new SSC selection post Phase 13 exam on August 29 for 55,000 candidates, whose exam data were mismatched, citing technical difficulty.

What caused the protests?

Around 8,000 candidates appeared for the SSC Selection Post Phase 13 examination on August 2 in three shifts. The commission, on analysing the logs of the exam found gaps in data. Notably, the controversy caught fire in March this year after candidates allegedly reported abrupt marking and normalisation of marks in the recruitment exam.

In another incident, the commission cancelled the first shift of the SSC Stenographer grade C, D at Maharshi Mehi Online Examination Centre, Sabour, Bhagalpur in Bihar due to 'operational challenges.'

Followed by another cancellation at Pawan ganga Education Centre 2 and Educasa International Hubballi of the SSC recruitment exam.

One of the SSC aspirants from Prayagraj, told Careers360, that he had chosen Kanpur, Lucknow and Prayagraj as his centre preferences. However, he was allocated an examination centre in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, in a remote area with fewer commuting options from Jabalpur's train station.

"I had to face multiple hurdles while appearing for his SSC CGL examination – first in downloading the admit card and then reaching his examination centre," he added.
