The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has cancelled the selection post phase 13 computer-based exam at certain centres following technical and administrative issues on the first day of the exam. The SSC selection post phase 13, which began on July 24, is scheduled to continue till August 1.

According to an official notice, the SSC phase 13 exam scheduled at Pawan Ganga Educational Centre 2 from July 24 to July 26 has been cancelled due to administrative reasons. Candidates assigned to this centre will now be rescheduled to appear from July 28 onwards.

“It is hereby informed to all the concerned candidates that the Examination Scheduled in Pawan Ganga Educational Centre 2 from 24.07.2025 to 26.07.2025 is cancelled due to Administrative reasons,” the official notice said.

In a separate development, the first shift of the exam at Educasa International, Hubli — scheduled from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on July 24 — is also called off due to a technical glitch. The commission said the revised date and time for affected candidates will be communicated through SMS and email by the end of the day.

“The exam will be rescheduled shortly and all candidates will be informed through SMS and mail by today end of the day. Candidates may keep in touch with the SSC website ,” the notice said.

SSC Phase 13 Exam 2025: Centre allocation row

Several aspirants have also raised concerns about the exam centre allocation. Many claimed they were assigned centres located hundreds of kilometres away from their hometowns, with some allotted centres in entirely different states.

Some candidates reported that their exam centres were allotted in districts they had not even chosen while submitting the application form. This has led to concerns over the travel burden and additional expenses.

This year, SSC has changed its exam vendor from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to Eduquity Career Technologies. The change has introduced a new exam interface, though the test pattern and syllabus remain unchanged. Despite this, several candidates have expressed dissatisfaction with the new exam vendor and have urged SSC to reinstate TCS, citing its reliability and the smoother conduct of exams in past years.

‘Raise your voice’: Aspirants call for collective action

The sudden cancellations and logistical issues have triggered reactions from students and educators on social media. One user posted,“SSC has never been able to reform properly, nor will it ever be able to! Thinking it will get fixed now is just as wrong as it keeps getting worse! Centres hundreds of kilometres away, and on the exam day, they make the excuse of a technical issue and cancel the exam with just a notice!”

“And this isn't about just one exam centre. Why do all these technical issues only arise during the exam process? And when will these technical issues, which have just begun, ever be fixed?” he further said.

A candidate highlighted the human cost of mismanagement, tweeting, “Kisi ne train li, kisi ne bus, kisi ne night travel karke subah jaldi centre pe report kiya — aur SSC ne kaha: ‘Technical issue hai, ghar jao!’ Yeh exam system nahi, students ke jazbaat se mazaak hai!”

Another user questioned the commission and posted, “SSC, answer us. A student spends 4 to 5 thousand rupees to attend an exam, only to find out upon reaching that the exam has been cancelled. Who is responsible for this?”

One user posted, “SSC has never been able to fix things properly, nor will it ever! Thinking it will get better now only leads to it getting worse! Centres hundreds of kilometres away, and on the exam day, they make excuses about technical issues and cancel the exam with just one notice! And this isn’t about just one exam centre.”

Across posts, students have raised demands for better planning, centre allocation within reasonable distances, and transparency from the commission. Many have called for SSC to acknowledge the disruptions and prevent further distress in upcoming shifts.
