A viral video shows some male students removing clothes of fellow student and hitting him with slippers in a government hostel room in Madurai.
In a disturbing and shocking incident, four minor students allegedly ragged their junior at a government hostel in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai. In a video that has gone viral on social media, students can be seen removing the clothes and hitting a fellow student in a hostel room near Thirumangalam.
The senior students allegedly forced the victim to strip and beat him. The incident occurred at the Government Kallara School Student Hostel in Sekkanurani.
The student was allegedly assaulted by four minor students hailing from different parts of Madurai and Theni districts. The hostel reportedly houses more than 100 students from various institutions, including government schools, colleges, and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The victim is known to be an ITI student.
Even more shocking is the fact that one of the students recorded the video of the incident and shared it with the victim's father who, then, filed a complaint with the Sekkanurani police. The police investigation has revealed that all the students involved in ragging are minors, and a case has been registered against them under the Ragging Prevention Act.
The police have booked the minor students in connection with the incident, and the hostel's warden, Balakrishnan, has been suspended for negligence. Moreover, a temporary warden has been appointed in his place.
