UP CM orders probe into unrecognised courses, admission process in state universities, colleges

Taking a step to ensure transparency and accountability in Uttar Pradesh’s higher education system, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered an in-depth investigation into the recognition of courses and admission process at universities and colleges across the state.
The chief minister through its official X account stated that the investigation at each district level must be completed and a report should be sent to the government within 15 days of the order.
“Divisional Commissioners will maintain direct oversight on the entire investigation process. Negligence or laxity at any level will not be tolerated,” according to a post on UP CM’s official X account.
As directed by the chief minister, each divisional commissioner will form a special investigation team in their respective divisions, a report by PTI said.

Further, each team will include a senior administrative officer, a police department officer, and an officer from the education department, the report added. A ground-level inspection to verify the legitimacy of the recognition and admission process in the institutions, the PTI reported.
Following which, every institution will have to submit an affidavit, stating the list of courses recognised by the relevant regulatory authority, university or board, it added.
Recently, a footage was circulated online showing policemen confronting demonstrators on the campus of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University in Barabanki district of UP. The clash took place after students protested over an alleged unrecognised law course.
After the protests and lathi-charge, CM Adityanath ordered the removal of the circle officer of the city.
