Uttar Pradesh government approves proposal to establish 3 new private universities

Uttar Pradesh: The state government has approved the proposal to establish private universities in Sambhal, Jhansi, and Fatehpur districts.

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the proposal to establish three private universities in Sambhal, Jhansi, and Fatehpur. A Cabinet meeting was held in Lok Bhavan, Lucknow, under the chairmanship of chief minister Yogi Adityanath and other officials.

The decision has been taken to establish 3 new private universities aiming to make quality higher education accessible in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the official press release, the higher education minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that the establishment of new private universities will increase opportunities for the youth to pursue higher education locally and promote quality education.

He added that the universities will begin operating after completing the procedures as per the regulations under the "Uttar Pradesh Private University Act, 2019" and the "Private University (Establishment) Rules, 2021."

Uttar Pradesh: 3 new private universities

The proposal to establish Radha Govind University in the Chandausi area of Sambhal district has been approved, and a decision has been made to introduce the "Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Fifth Amendment) Ordinance, 2025."

The university establishment will be sponsored by the Sonal Educational Society, Mathura, and will be established on 22.05 acres of land in the villages of Akauli and Rasulpur Kali, Chandausi, Sambhal.

The second, Gandhi University in Jhansi district, will be established under the sponsoring organisation, Saint Ma Karma Manav Samvardhan Trust. The private university will be built on 20.21 acres of land in the villages of Ambabai and Rudra Karari in the Jhansi Development Authority area.
