It was after Justice Kausik Chanda J of the Calcutta High Court received a mail on his personal ID from the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) candidates, that the court initiated contempt proceedings against the state government as well as the exam board.

The Calcutta High Court has summoned the principal secretary, higher education department, West Bengal to inform the court about the state's position in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) result and the Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation.

As Justice Kausik Chanda J of the Calcutta High Court has initiated contempt proceedings against the West Bengal government and the exam board, the senior advocate informed that no further steps will be taken in the WBJEE admission process, that may violate the court order until a division bench decides on the stay.
