DUSU Election 2025: The DUSU 2025 election results announced for all four central posts today, September 19. Aryan Maan of ABVP won the President post with 28,841 votes, defeating NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary who received 12,645 votes. Rahul Jhansla of NSUI won the Vice President post with 29,339 votes, while ABVP’s Govind Tanwar polled 20,547.

ABVP’s Kunal Chaudhary was elected Secretary with 23,779 votes, defeating NSUI’s Kabir on 16,177 votes. The Joint Secretary post went to ABVP’s Deepika Jha with 21,825 votes, ahead of NSUI’s Lav Kush Badhana who received 17,380 votes. SFI-AISA candidates and an independent NSUI rebel polled below 10,000 votes in each post.

Vote counting was conducted at the multipurpose hall, University Sports Stadium, North Campus, over 18 rounds. Around 2.8 lakh students cast their votes for the DU election 2025 in two phases. The voting concluded for the Delhi University Students' Union elections amid a clash between the NSUI and ABVP.

Around 2,400 students from Ramjas College and close to 2,000 in Sri Venkateswara College cast their votes, as per the official data. Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) filed a police complaint against former president Rounak Khatri, from the student wing of Congress party, for allegedly forcibly entering Kirori Mal College and assaulting a female student while the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) accused the RSS-affiliated party of manipulating votes.

Students were promised pizza, momos, and movie tickets among others in return for votes, Careers360 learnt. Around 700 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and 155 polling booths were set up across the 52 DU colleges. The first phase of voting was held from 8:30 am to 1 pm while the phase 2 of Delhi University elections took place from 3 pm to at 7.30 pm.

For the first time in twenty years, women candidates are in the race for president in the DUSU elections 2025, showing inclusivity and gender equality.

There were tight security measures this year, following several criticisms of defacement of public property and a Delhi High Court order allowing the counting of votes only after the defaced public properties were cleaned up.

Over 600 police officers were deployed, 160 of them equipped with body-worn cameras, CCTV monitoring, and drones tracking were put in place as preventive measures. Dedicated pedestrian routes for students and traffic diversions around North Campus were also planned, the university said.

DUSU 2025: Who is contesting?

There are three major groups in the DUSU election 2025 contest – the RSS-affiliated ABVP, the Congress-backed NSUI, and the Left-supported SFI-AISA alliance.

ABVP has fielded Aryan Maan from Bahadurgarh, promising subsidised metro passes, free Wi-Fi and better sports infrastructure.

NSUI , represented by Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, a PG student of Buddhist Studies, focusing on hostel facilities, campus safety, and menstrual leave.

SFI-AISA alliance , with Anjali from Indraprastha College for Women as its face, calling for gender sensitisation, rollback of fee hikes and stronger grievance redressal.

With the inclusion of fourth-year undergraduate students under DU’s new academic structure, the voter base has expanded by nearly 50,000 students compared to previous years. The DUSU elections are often considered a gateway to national politics, but for students, the immediate concerns remain — affordable hostels, safe campuses, better transport and inclusive policies.

DU Election News: ABVP terms NSUI's violence 'shameful'

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), condemned the alleged violence perpetrated by the student wing of the Congress party -- NSUI -- during the Delhi University Students' Union elections at several locations, including Kirori Mal College and Hansraj College, and demanded strict action from the administration against the NSUI goons involved. "NSUI's desperation and panic proves that NSUI is facing a crushing defeat in the DUSU elections," it said.

Terming NSUI's allegations regarding EVMs "hollow" and "baseless", RSS-affiliated student party remarked that Congress and Rahul Gandhi have a long-standing habit of blaming the entire electoral process when they start losing elections.

Congress and its affiliates must respect democracy and the mandate. CCTV footage of the EVM ink leakage incident at a DU college should be viewed; it will expose the NSUI's lies," ABVP further stated.
