Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) filed a police complaint against former president Rounak Khatri, from the student wing of Congress party, for allegedly forcibly entering Kirori Mal College and assaulting a female student while the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) accused the RSS-affiliated party of manipulating votes.

For the first time in twenty years, women candidates are in the race for president in the DUSU elections 2025, showing inclusivity and gender equality.
There were tight security measures this year, following several criticisms of defacement of public property and a Delhi High Court order allowing the counting of votes only after the defaced public properties were cleaned up.
Over 600 police officers were deployed, 160 of them equipped with body-worn cameras, CCTV monitoring, and drones tracking were put in place as preventive measures. Dedicated pedestrian routes for students and traffic diversions around North Campus were also planned, the university said.
DUSU 2025: Who is contesting?
There are three major groups in the DUSU election 2025 contest – the RSS-affiliated ABVP, the Congress-backed NSUI, and the Left-supported SFI-AISA alliance.
ABVP has fielded Aryan Maan from Bahadurgarh, promising subsidised metro passes, free Wi-Fi and better sports infrastructure.
NSUI , represented by Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, a PG student of Buddhist Studies, focusing on hostel facilities, campus safety, and menstrual leave.
SFI-AISA alliance , with Anjali from Indraprastha College for Women as its face, calling for gender sensitisation, rollback of fee hikes and stronger grievance redressal.
With the inclusion of fourth-year undergraduate students under DU’s new academic structure, the voter base has expanded by nearly 50,000 students compared to previous years. The DUSU elections are often considered a gateway to national politics, but for students, the immediate concerns remain — affordable hostels, safe campuses, better transport and inclusive policies.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), condemned the alleged violence perpetrated by the student wing of the Congress party -- NSUI -- during the Delhi University Students' Union elections at several locations, including Kirori Mal College and Hansraj College, and demanded strict action from the administration against the NSUI goons involved. "NSUI's desperation and panic proves that NSUI is facing a crushing defeat in the DUSU elections," it said.

Congress and its affiliates must respect democracy and the mandate.
