DUSU Election Result 2025 (OUT) LIVE: Aryan Maan wins president post; NSUI, ABVP secure central positions

Following Delhi High Court directives, no victory processions will be held. The court had previously halted results due to defacement of public property and ordered restoration of affected areas before counting could begin.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) secured three out of the four central posts in the Delhi University Students’ Union elections 2025. Aryan Maan was elected President, while Kunal Chaudhary and Deepika Jha won the Secretary and Joint Secretary posts respectively.

A total of 23,674 students chose NOTA in the DUSU 2025-26 elections across all four central posts. For the President post, 3,175 votes were cast for NOTA out of 59,882 votes. The Vice President post saw 5,820 NOTA votes out of 59,869, while the Secretary post received 7,365 NOTA votes out of 59,863. For the Joint Secretary position, 7,314 students opted for NOTA out of 59,919 votes.

According to Raj Kishore Sharma, Chief Election Officer for DUSU 2025-26, there were nine candidates for President, three for Vice President, four for Secretary, and five for Joint Secretary. The results reflect voting patterns across different student groups in Delhi University.

Deepika Jha won the Joint Secretary position with 21,825 votes out of 59,919. Lavkush Bhadana came second with 17,380 votes. Other candidates included Abhishek Kumar, Akshita, and Amelia Ann Varghese. NOTA votes for this post totaled 7,314.

Vote counting for the DUSU Election 2025-26 concluded on September 19 at the University Sports Stadium, North Campus. The counting covered four central posts – President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary – and was conducted over 18 rounds. Voting took place in two phases across 52 colleges, using 700 Electronic Voting Machines and 155 polling booths. Around 2.8 lakh students participated, including first-time voters from fourth-year undergraduate programmes under the new academic structure.

ABVP’s Kunal Chaudhary won the Secretary position with 23,779 votes. NSUI candidate Kabir received 16,177 votes, and SFI-AISA’s Abhinandana polled 9,535 votes. The result shows ABVP leading in the Secretary post, while NSUI and SFI-AISA secured fewer votes, as per sources.

As per sources, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla has been elected Vice President with 29,339 votes. ABVP candidate Govind Tanwar received 20,547 votes, while SFI-AISA’s Sohan polled 4,163 votes.

As per sources, ABVP’s Aryan Maan has won the President’s post in the DUSU 2025 elections with 28,841 votes. NSUI candidate Joslyn Nandita Choudhary secured 12,645 votes, SFI-AISA’s Anjali received 5,385 votes, and the independent NSUI rebel polled 5,522 votes.

The DUSU Election 2025 results are scheduled to be announced today, September 19, 2025. Vote counting is being conducted at the multipurpose hall of the University Sports Stadium in North Campus. This year, 21 candidates are contesting for four central posts, with voting held across 52 colleges in two phases.

The Vice President post shows NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla polling 22,770 votes till round 16, crossing a clear margin over ABVP’s Govind Tanwar on 16,013. SFI-AISA candidate Sohan has secured 3,185.

After 16 rounds of counting, ABVP’s Aryan Maan has secured 21,854 votes in the President’s contest. NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary follows with 9,973 votes, while SFI-AISA’s Anjali has received 4,414. Furthermore, Rohan Khatri, president of DUSU also said: "Yes, we had raised this issue in front of everyone. As far as the counting is concerned, we will accept the results. But if irregularities are proven, we are also prepared to take the matter to High Court and we do not have any hope from the DU authorities,” according to official PTI reports.

According to PTI reports, the president of DUSU said, “Only three rounds of counting have been done so far there are a total of 18 rounds. As of now, in the Vice President’s seat, we are leading by a significant margin. For the Joint Secretary position as well. On President’s seat the margin is high but in the upcoming rounds it will be covered. And, whatever the students’ mandate is, we will accept it.”

For the first time in years, the walls of the university's colleges and hostels remained free of posters and graffiti as the authorities strictly enforced anti-defacement rules under the Lyngdoh Committee guidelines.

The contest has largely been between the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Congress-backed National Students' Union of India (NSUI). The NSUI has fielded Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, a postgraduate student of Buddhist Studies, and the ABVP has fielded Aryan Maan from the Department of Library Science for the president's post.

DU Election Results 2025 counting begins today amid the triangular fight, as female candidates have made a comeback this year. ABVP's Nupur Sharma was the last woman to hold the DUSU president's office in 2008-09. This year, NSUI has nominated Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, a PG student of Buddhist Studies. Her focus is on the campaign on hostel shortage, campus safety, and the demand for menstrual leave.

SFI-AISA alliance nominated Anjali, a student of Indraprastha College for Women, who campaigned on issues of gender sensitisation, fee hikes, and the restoration of grievance redressal mechanisms.

After voting, the EVMs were stored in a strong room in the Multipurpose Hall in the university's Sports Complex. Raj Kishore Sharma, the chief officer for DUSU Election, stated that all arrangements, including CCTV cameras, were made smoothly. All preparations have been made for the vote count in the basement of the Multipurpose Hall.

DUSU Elections 2025 voting took place from 8:30 am to 1 pm at seven polling stations in 36 colleges and departments in the morning, and at the polling station in the South Campus, while voting began at 3 pm at eight colleges yesterday.

Over 1.5 lakh candidates cast their votes for the DU Elections in two phases yesterday. The total voter turnout rate is 39.45 percent.

Shyama Prasad Mukherji College (for Women), Punjabi Bagh, has announced its Students’ Council for 2025–26. Lalita Chhillar has been elected President, Pragya Parashar as Vice President, Swash Singh as Secretary, and Unnati Migra as Joint Secretary. Megha and Jannat will serve as College Council representatives.

In the Delhi University's SPM college, the voter turnout was around 20% with 907/4500 votes.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), condemned the alleged violence perpetrated by the student wing of the Congress party -- NSUI -- during the Delhi University Students' Union elections at several locations, including Kirori Mal College and Hansraj College, and demanded strict action from the administration against the NSUI goons involved. "NSUI's desperation and panic proves that NSUI is facing a crushing defeat in the DUSU elections," it said.

Terming NSUI's allegations regarding EVMs "hollow" and "baseless", RSS-affiliated student party remarked that Congress and Rahul Gandhi have a long-standing habit of blaming the entire electoral process when they start losing elections.

"This is shameful. Under the leadership of the Vidyarthi Parishad, Delhi University students will give a befitting reply to the NSUI. Congress and its affiliates must respect democracy and the mandate. CCTV footage of the EVM ink leakage incident at a DU college should be viewed; it will expose the NSUI's lies," ABVP further stated.

Of 6,567 students in Delhi University's Ramjas College, a total of 2,461 students cast their votes for DUSU election 2025. Whereas in Sri Venkateswara College, 1,979 students out of 3,220 participating in the voting.

Women candidates have been allowed to contest in DUSU elections after a period of 20 years. NSUI's Joslyn Nandita Choudhary is contesting for the president post among candidates.

The Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) 2025 elections are being held today. Students cast their votes at 195 polling booths across 52 polling stations. DUSU election chief officer Raj Kishore Sharma stated that the voting was peaceful. Observers continuously monitored all polling stations. He stated that all arrangements, including CCTV cameras, have been made smoothly. Complete preparations have been made in the basement of the multipurpose Hall for the vote count, he added.

ABVP has filed a police complaint against former DUSU president Rounak Khatri over allegedly entering the Kirori Mal College forcibly and assaulting a female student.

A Muslim student, in a conversation with Careers360, shared that whoever comes in power should work for the university. The candidate should not indulge in politics of religion, he said. While denying caste-based dominance, the DU student said that loitering during the campaign is wrong.

The second phase of voting for Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election 2025 has commenced. Students enrolled in evening classes will cast their votes now for electing their DU president.

For the first time in years, the Delhi University Students' Union election is seeing a visibly clean campus, PTI reported. College and hostel walls, that were often seen plastered with posters and graffiti during the DUSU polls, have remained untouched in line with strict enforcement of the Lyngdoh Committee's anti-defacement guidelines.

"I am voting in DUSU polls for the second time. Last year, the roads were so full of posters and pamphlets that you could barely see them," Sumit Singh of Hansraj College was quoted as saying.

According to a student, the key issues that are being addressed in this year's Delhi University Students' Union elections include hostel accommodation for those coming from outside Delhi, metro concession pass for those staying far, basic sports facilities, better infrastructure, among others.

The first phase of voting for Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election 2025 has ended at 1 pm for day scholars. The phase 2 voting will start from 3:30 pm for students studying in evening colleges.

Following last year's issues in DUSU elections, Delhi University proposed strict measures including campaign expenditure, penalty for defacement of public property among others.

ABVP members have dismissed the claims and called the EVM tampering allegations 'baseless'. In an official statement, ABVP national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said, "NSUI is rattled by ABVP’s growing popularity across Delhi University and is resorting to making unfounded allegations. This time, NSUI is not competing for second place but for third."

ABVP Delhi state secretary Sarthak Sharma added that NSUI is following the same pattern as the Congress, which blames EVMs after every electoral loss. He said their desperation is evident from their fear of defeat and declining popularity among students.

DUSU Polls 2025: NSUI alleges RSS-BJP linked faculty casting vote for absent students; warns of 'vote chori'

SFI-AISA alliance in its campaign highlighted concerns regarding issues such as inadequate campus infrastructure, fee hikes, social injustice, and opposition to alleged political interference in faculty appointments. The contesting candidates in the NSUI manifesto promised to fight against increase in fee, menstrual leave, gender sensitisation programmes across the university.

The NSUI presidential candidate Joslyn Nandita Choudhary in a video posted on X showed a voting machine with a list of candidates for the DUSU elections. The list includes names of all candidates, but the name of "Aryan Maan", presidential candidate of ABVP, was marked with blue ink. Faculty and students can also be seen discussing over dispute and expressing concerns about the integrity of the voting process.

The NSUI campaign was centered around women’s safety, better hostel infrastructure, more facilities, sport, and hygiene. The candidates have also promised better campus safety and menstrual leave for female students.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) president candidate Aryan Maan, a student of MA Library Science, has promised for concessions in metro passes, free wi-fi, better sports infrastructure on campus, and accessibility audits for physically-challenged students. "With these initiatives, we aim to establish Delhi University as a premier global institution," Aryan Maan said.

The Delhi University election committee received over 25 complaints, and nine show-cause notices were issued to seven central panel candidates last year. In this regard, the Delhi High Court has issued strict guidelines to adhere to the Lyngdoh Committee rules. It has also barred victory processions in the national capital after results.

For the first time in the history of Delhi University, the walls of the campus are free from poster wars.

A total of 82 candidates filed nominations for the four central panel posts. Of which, 73 were found valid.

• 21 candidates are in fray for the presidential post.

Lyngdoh Committee guidelines are accepted by the Supreme Court and the high court for the conduct of students union elections on campuses. According to the guidelines, a maximum permitted expenditure per candidate shall be Rs 5,000 and the candidature will be cancelled if the expenditure crosses the set limit.

• The restriction is the cash flow has been imposed to prevent inflow of funds from political parties.
• Candidates are prohibited from indulging or abetting all corrupt activities, intimidation or impersonation of voters.
• Candidates are prohibited from canvassing or the use of propaganda within 100 metres of the polling stations, holding public meetings during the period of 24 hours ending with the hour fixed for the close of the poll.
• Printed posters, pamphlets for canvassing are strictly banned.

Ahead of the DUSU elections 2025, Delhi University has requested all faculty, staff, and students to park their vehicles with authorized university stickers inside gate no. 1.

“There will be restrictions on the movement of vehicles on Chhatra Marg, Probyn Road and University Road on 18th and 19th September, 2025 due to the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) Elections 2025-26,” it said.

DU gate no. 4 will remain closed today and tomorrow (September 18 and 19) and GC Narang Marg Cavalry Lane will be completely closed on September 19 on the day of DUSU counting.

The National Students' Union of India ( NSUI ) has nominated 23-year-old Joslyn Nandita Choudhary as its presidential candidate, the first woman to be fielded for the top post in 17 years. She is pursuing MA in Buddhist Studies and has been active in campaigns and vocal about women's rights, campus safety, and representation since 2019.

The NSUI has named Rahul Jhansla (24) for the post of vice president, Kabir (24) for secretary and Lav Kush Badhana (19) a BA (Hons) student from Zakir Husain College for joint secretary.

The students’ group said that Jhansla has been active in campus politics, especially voicing concerns regarding hostel hygiene and sports infrastructure. Kabir, a Law Centre II student, has also focused on campaigns about student development and sports.

The Left-aligned students' party — Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students’ Association (AISA) – have fielded Anjali from Indraprastha College for Women as presidential candidate, Sohan Kumar as vice president, Abhinandana Pratyashi as secretary, and Abhishek Kumar as joint secretary.

The left alliance said it would focus on women’s safety, hostel facilities, metro concessions, and representation of marginalised groups. It also represented itself as an alternative voice against the “money and muscle power” in campus politics.

This year, Delhi University has included the fourth-year students under the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP), increasing the voter base from 2.25 lakh to 2.75 lakh . There will be an increase of about 50,000 voters this year compared to previous elections, the chief election officer said, adding that the stakes in the DUSU election are high.
