The Maharashtra government has slashed the interview marks to 25% for the faculty recruitment. Candidates must score at least 50 marks in the academic, teaching, and research to qualify for the interview.
The Maharashtra government has reduced the weightage assigned to interviews in the faculty and university officials’ recruitment process from 40% to 25%, and emphasised on academic credentials, research, and teaching experience. This marks a significant shift in how merit lists are prepared for faculty recruitment in Maharashtra public universities.
The state universities will resume filling vacant posts after a 10-month gap. According to the new recruitment process, the final merit list or selection will be made by giving 75% weightage to academic, teaching, and research (ATR), and the remaining 25% to interview performance. Earlier, both academic qualifications and interview were split into a 60:40 weightage respectively.
Candidates must score at least 50 marks in the ATR to qualify for the interview stage.
The revised rules are applicable for assistant professor, associate professor, professor, university officer posts. Below is the detailed mark distribution for the 75% weightage given for each post.
