NEET Exam Analysis 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has concluded the NEET 2026 exam for 22.79 lakh students across 551 cities in India. The NEET entrance exam 2026 was held in offline (pen-and-paper) mode, in a single shift from 2 pm to 5 pm. MBBS, BDS aspirants, who appeared for the NEET UG 2026 exam, found the medical college entrance exam paper easy. For the smooth conduct of NEET UG 2026, NTA deployed more than 2 lakh personnel, including 6,000 observers and 674 city coordinators, to oversee operations at NEET exam centres 2026.
The testing agency also ensured every NEET centre is equipped with reliable power back-up, drinking water and sanitation facilities and on-site medical support for medical-entrance exam aspirants.
A total of 22,79,743 candidates registered for the NEET UG 2026 exam, including 13,32,928 females and 9,46,815 males.
Candidates who appeared for the UG medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS), Nursing entrance exam can download the NEET 2026 admit card from the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates can also access the NEET admit card 2026 using their application number and date of birth.
The NEET UG 2026 exam was conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm. It was held in a single, offline mode and last for 3 hours. According to the NEET 2026 reporting time, candidates had to reach the exam centre between 11 am and 1:30 pm, and no entry was allowed after 1:30 pm.
The NEET 2026 admit card was issued on April 26 and is a mandatory document to carry to the exam centre. Without the hall ticket, candidates will not be allowed to enter the centre.
The NEET entrance exam was conducted for 3 hours and 20 minutes (200 minutes) and consists of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), out of which 180 must be answered. The NEET question paper carries a total of 720 marks.
As per the NEET marking scheme, 4 marks will be given for each correct answer, and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The NEET UG 2026 answer key for all sets will be released by NTA a few days after the exam.
First, a NEET provisional answer key will be issued, allowing candidates to check answers and raise objections. After review, the NEET final answer key will be released, which will be used to prepare the results.
The list of documents that candidates had to carry to the NEET exam centre is given below.
Students carried the required post card size photo for NEET as mentioned in the admit card instructions. This photo was used for attendance and verification purposes.
Candidates were not permitted to bring electronic devices, calculators, bluetooth devices, earphones, pagers, manuscripts, smartwatches, or any other prohibited items into the NEET examination hall.

The category-wise NEET cut-off for last year varied across different groups. For the general category, the qualifying cut-off was at the 50th percentile, with marks ranging from 720 to 162. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories had a cut-off at the 40th percentile, corresponding to scores between 161 and 127.

As per subject expert Neeraj Kumar Chaudhary, the physics exam was fairly average. Students who prepared well would've been able to answer most questions while other students may have found a few questions tricky.
"There were quite a few questions that required deep thinking and solving. So we can say it was more calculation-oriented but the questions were pretty uniformly distributed across the syllabus so overall it was a good paper," Chaudhary said.

According to the Vipin Kumar Sharma, faculty, Botany, Physics Wallah (PW), Biology including botany and zoology was easy. It was completely NCERT-based. Questions could've been done using the elimination method for instance, match the following type of questions.
"There were fewer assertion type questions and statement-based questions.Mostly the questions were lengthy and there were quite a few match the following questions. It would've been beneficial for the students. Students who had prepared well would've been able to cover biology in an hour or so. The National Medical Commission (NMC) directed medical colleges across the country to can leaves granted to students on May 2, and 3.
