Delhi to conduct first computerised draw of lots for CWSN admissions in private unaided schools on March 19

NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Education, Delhi, will conduct the first computerised draw of lots for admission under the Children with Special Needs (CWSN) category in private unaided recognised schools for the academic session 2025-26. The draw will be held on March 19, 2025, at 2:30 pm in the Conference Hall, Directorate of Education, Old Secretariat, Delhi-110054.

The admission process aims to ensure fair allocation of seats to eligible students under the CWSN category. The computerised draw is expected to bring transparency to the selection process. “The department is going to conduct 1st computerized draw of lots for admission under the CWSN category in Private Unaided Recognized Schools of Delhi, for the academic session 2025-26,” the official order said.

As per the earlier circular issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE), the admission process for Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories in private unaided recognised schools at the entry-level classes including nursery, KG, and Class 1 is conducted solely through a computerised draw of lots.

Warning against fraudulent admission claims

“This process is entirely automated, leaving no room for manual interference at any stage," the circular further emphasised. The department also warned against individuals or institutions falsely claiming to influence or guarantee admissions under these categories.

"The general public is informed that such claims are misleading, and people are advised to avoid engaging with such illegal entities," it stated. Further details regarding the admission procedure and selected candidates will be released after the draw.

The first computerised draw of lots for admission to entry-level classes under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) categories in private schools was held on March 5 for 42,000 seats.
