Gurucool launches 'Mission Delhi' to empower underprivileged students with Rs 1 crore scholarship

NEW DELHI: Gurucool has launched Mission Delhi, an initiative inspired by the stories of Saheb-e-Alam from Seemapuri and Mukesh from Firozabad, characters in NCERT’s Lost Spring. Gurucool's Mission Delhi aims to address the harsh realities faced by children in Delhi’s slums and bring transformative change through education and empowerment.

Through 'Mission Delhi' initiative, Gurucool aims to empower underprivileged students by offering Rs 1 crore in scholarships, enabling them to access advanced phygital learning centers. These centers will provide courses in coding, competitive exam preparation, and vocational training.

The initiative will partner with well-established NGOs and social organisations to broaden its impact and support efforts in economically disadvantaged communities.

The initiative will also share the stories of children facing struggles, raising awareness of their challenges and encouraging a shift toward a more inclusive and fair future.

Centres equipped with advanced infrastructure

Adil Meraj, Founder and CEO of Gurucool, said, "Even if villages are less wealthy than cities, why is it that slums exist only in cities?"

"People say these kids are not like other children—they beg, chew tobacco, and are ill-mannered. But I say their circumstances are tough, not their hearts. Children are children, no matter what", Adil added.

Mission Delhi's learning centers are equipped with advanced infrastructure, Frontal Hall-style classrooms, and advanced digital tools, designed to foster an engaging and collaborative learning experience. The scholarships will prioritize passion and curiosity over academic scores, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have an inclusive opportunity to learn and grow.
