IIT Gandhinagar early MTech admissions 2025-26 open; GATE scores not mandatory

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has commenced the registration for 'early admit MTech programme'. The IIT Gandhinagar early MTech Programme is scheduled to begin in July 2025. GATE 2025 scores are not mandatory for admission to IIT Gandhinagar's early MTech programme. The IIT Gandhinagar early MTech admission form can be accessed by visiting the official website, iitgn.ac.in.

The IIT Gandhinagar early MTech registration deadline is March 26, 5 pm. As per the official schedule, the list of shortlisted candidates will be announced between April 6 to 8.

IIT Gandhinagar offers a fellowship of Rs 15,400 per month for candidates with a valid GATE score and Rs 6,000 for others. Additionally, selected students will receive travel support of up to Rs 60,000 for attending international conferences. As per the official brochure, candidates also have the opportunity to complete their semester 8 of BTech at IIT Gandhinagar as visiting students before formally joining the MTech programme

IIT Gandhinagar MTech admission process 2025

Selection for IIT Gandhinagar MTech admission will be based on interview, and a written test. The final selection for IIT Gandhinagar MTech admission will be based on academic records, written test and interview. The selection rounds for IIT Gandhinagar early MTech admission is scheduled from April 20 to May 20.

IIT Gandhinagar Early MTech Programme 2025: Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for IIT Gandhinagar MTech Programme are as follows.

• Candidates are required to be final-year BTech students from NITs with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 for General, EWS, and OBC categories. On the other hand, minimum 7.5 CGPA are required to be obtained by SC, ST, and PwD categories by the end of their third year.
• Candidates are required to be final-year BTech students from selective colleges, including NITs, and rank among the top five in their department for General, EWS, and OBC categories or the top ten for SC, ST, and PwD categories by the end of their third year.
• Candidates from IITs are required to be final-year BTech students with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 by the end of their third year.

IIT Gandhinagar MTech Admission 2025: Programme requirements

Students will be required to earn 32 to 48 credits of coursework, 32 to 48 credits for their thesis, and 2 credits for the postgraduate orientation programme.

Writing Course: Students will be required to complete a mandatory 4-credit writing course.

Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS): At least 4 credits are required to be earned from HSS courses.

Electives: A minimum of 8 credits are required to taken as electives from within or outside the discipline. Students will be able choose electives but required to consult their faculty advisor.

Discipline-Specific Courses: At least 16 credits are required to be earned from courses specified by the discipline.

Additional Requirements: Physical Education (PE) Courses: Students enrolled in the MTech programme from Semester I onwards will be required to complete two PE courses, one in each of their first two semesters. These will be graded on a pass or fail basis.

PG Orientation Programme (Aarohan): Completing the 2-credit Aarohan programme will be mandatory. It is a two-week orientation which need to be completed before students begin their first semester of IIT Gandhinagar's MTech programme.
