JEE Main 2026 LIVE: NTA begins session 2 registration at jeemain.nta.nic.in; apply by February 25

A score of 200 marks in JEE Main usually gives a very high percentile, around 99.0 to 99.7 or more, depending on how difficult the exam shift was.

Those who have passed the Class 12 or an equivalent examination in the last three years, or students currently appearing for the Class 12 examination, are eligible to apply for the JEE Main exam 2026. There is no age limit, but applicants must meet the Class 12 subject and marks requirements stipulated for admission to NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutions.

Candidates need Class 12 marks mainly for eligibility, not for JEE ranking. To get admission into NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, they usually need at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) or must be in the top 20 percentile of their board.

The last date to pay the JEE Main 2026 session 2 application fee is February 25, up to 11:50 pm.

For session 2, the JEE Main 2026 registration process will end on February 25.

The JEE Main 2026 Session 2 registration will begin today, February 1, 2026. Candidates can apply for the JEE Main April session through the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, until the deadline of February 25, 2026.

Applicants are required to fill the application form and upload the required documents when the JEE Mains session 2 registration portal opens. The following documents in prescribed format should be kept ready before fill the JEE form.

• A recent color passport-size photograph with 80% face visible against white background. Photograph in JPG/JPEG format between 10 kb to 200 kb.
• Signature file should be JPG/JPEG format between 10 kb to 100 kb.
• Scanned copy of Class 10 or equivalent certificate should be uploaded in PDF format between 50 kb to 300 kb.
• Scanned copy of Identity Proof for those candidates who have opted out of Aadhaar verification or Digilocker. The ID should be uploaded in JPG/JPEG, with file size between 10 kb to 200 kb.
• Scanned copy of disability or UDID certificate should be a pdf between 50 kb to 300 kb.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct JEE Main 2026 session 2 in thirteen languages - English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The JEE Mains question paper will be prepared in multiple languages, with an aim to make the exam more accessible to students across diverse linguistic backgrounds.

The NTA is expected to host the JEE Mains 2026 application form for the April session today. Candidates who have already registered for session have to login using their session 1 application number and pay the fees for session 2. They do not need to apply again for the second attempt.

The total mark for JEE Mains 2026 BArch Paper 2A and BPlanning Paper 2B is 400. The NTA usually conducts paper 2 on the last date of the session.

JEE Main candidates are required to carry government-issued valid ID card along with the admit card for verification purpose at the exam centre. On identity verification, the NTA said that candidates should carry a valid photo ID in original, the same proof uploaded during the application process. “Photocopies or images stored on mobile phones will not be accepted,” it said.

The NTA will conduct the first shift from 9 am to 12 noon and second shift from 3pm to 6 pm for JEE Main BE, BTech paper 1. The entry and closing time for morning and evening shifts will be 7 am to 8.30 am and 1-2.30 pm respectively.

The NTA will use a normalisation method to convert raw scores in percentile. This method is used to prevent any student from gaining any advantage due to the varying difficulty level across multiple shifts. Candidates can check the expected JEE Main marks vs percentile 2026 based on past trends.

The registration dates for JEE Main 2nd attempt are February 1 to 25.
