Lucknow University: JP Saini assumes charge as VC

The new vice-chancellor of Lucknow University said academic reform, research, innovation and effective implementation of NEP 2020 will be among his key priorities.

Professor JP Saini formally assumed charge as the vice-chancellor of Lucknow University, taking over from the outgoing Manuka Khanna. Senior university officials, deans, heads of departments and staff members were present on the occasion.

Khanna handed over the relevant documents to Saini and conveyed her best wishes during a ceremony held at the VC’s office today, according to the official note.

After taking charge, Saini said strengthening Lucknow University’s academic tradition would be his priority. “Education, research and innovation will remain our core focus,” he said.

New VC to focus on NEP, research and digital expansion

The new vice-chancellor stressed the need to promote student-centric education, job-oriented programmes, and interdisciplinary research. Referring to policy reforms, Saini said the effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) would receive special attention. “NEP 2020 offers an important framework for academic transformation,” he noted.

He said steps would be taken to expand digital education, strengthen industry–academia collaboration, and encourage academic partnerships at national and international levels. He also appealed to faculty members, staff and students to work together to take the university forward.
