Mewar University revokes suspension of 35 Kashmiri students amid protests over BSc nursing accreditation
The suspension got lifted following discussions between the university administration, the students, and advice from government authorities.

NEW DELHI: Mewar University, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan has revoked the suspension of 35 Kashmiri students who had been protesting the lack of accreditation for BSc Nursing course today, October 22. The suspension got lifted following discussions between the university administration, the students, and advice from government authorities.
"Taking into consideration of the request of the Kashmiri students studying in Mewar University and on the advice of the Government Administration, University Administration hereby immediately revokes the above suspension order", the university in a notice said.
The university administration acknowledged the concerns raised by the students and expressed a commitment to working collaboratively to resolve the issues surrounding the nursing program.
University confirmed that discussions are ongoing to ensure the nursing program receives proper accreditation, allowing students to continue their education without further disruptions. "University Administration is in discussion with the students to amicably resolve the issue of BSc Nursing program", the notice added.
Suspension for 'nuisance and deplorable acts'
According to a university order, the 35 second-year BSc Nursing students were suspended on Saturday for what was termed “nuisance and deplorable acts.” The order also bared the students from entering the campus until further notice and instructed them to vacate their hostels by 8 pm on Sunday.
In a statement, the National Convenor of the Association, Nasir Khuehami, said the students were protesting the university's failure to secure necessary approvals for their Bachelor of Science (BSc) Nursing course.
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) actively supported the students, urging both the Jammu and Kashmir government and the Rajasthan administration to intervene. JKSA stated that the university had promised students for several months that the necessary approvals would be secured shortly. They received a written commitment two months ago, but no advancements have occurred since then. Now, the university has requested an additional month to resolve the issue.
