Download EBookNEET UG Counselling: Two weeks after Careers360 flagged 17 National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG candidates from last year who figured in the list of students admitted to MBBS despite scoring less than the qualifying marks, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has chalked 16 of these appearances up to a “few wrong entries” by medical colleges.

In a public notice issued on Monday, the medical education regulator has listed 60 serial numbers, including 16 corresponding to unqualified candidates, as "wrong entries" made by the institutes while submitting student details on the NMC portal.
The NMC said that it views this "negligence" by the colleges "seriously" , requesting them to re-check the details of the admitted students and report discrepancies within a week.
NEET UG Counselling: Wrong entries, low ranks
NMC, on May 30, had released a list of 1,15,250 aspirants enrolled in the undergraduate medical course in the academic year 2024-25, asking the institutes and students to check if their names reflect properly in the list. The regulator was then alerted about several erroneous entries in the list.
Careers360 had also highlighted 17 NEET UG candidate names that had ostensibly managed to secure admission to MBBS in government as well as private medical colleges around the country despite their low scores. The NEET UG ranks of these students ranged from around 15 lakh to over 22 lakh.
When Careers360 had asked the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) cell about the three such students from the state, the authority denied either registering or facilitating their admissions. A private college from the state that is shown to have admitted one unqualified candidate, too, denied having enrolled him.
Inquiries made to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) went unanswered.
