NIRF Ranking 2025 Management: IIM Ahmedabad holds first position; IIT Delhi in top 5 MBA institutes

IIM Bangalore has maintained second position for six consecutive years, while IIM Kozhikode continues to secure the third rank in the NIRF 2025 management category.
NIRF Ranking 2025: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has retained its position as the top management institute in India, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025. IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode follow in second and third places, respectively. The rankings are officially announced by the Ministry of Education today, September 4, 2025. NIRF Ranking 2025 LIVE
This year, IIM Ahmedabad has secured the top position in the NIRF Management category for the sixth consecutive year. The institute first claimed the number one spot in 2017 and retained it in 2018. In 2019, it dropped to second place, but from 2020 onwards, IIM Ahmedabad has consistently maintained its position at the top.
IIM Bangalore has held the second position in the NIRF Management rankings from 2020 to 2025. The third position has seen changes over the years: IIM Calcutta occupied the third spot from 2016 to 2022, before IIM Kozhikode took over in 2023 and has retained it since.
The NIRF was launched by the education ministry in 2015 to evaluate higher education institutions in India. The first official India rankings were released on April 4, 2016, covering a limited number of categories, including universities, engineering, management, and pharmacy.
The 2025 rankings mark the 10th edition of NIRF , with results now published across 17 categories, including overall, engineering, pharmacy, management, architecture and planning, agriculture and allied sectors, law, medical, dental, innovation, skill university, open university, state public university, colleges, research institutions, and universities. This year, a new category focusing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been introduced.
IIM Calcutta, which consistently held the third position in the NIRF Management rankings from 2016 to 2022, has slipped to the seventh position in the NIRF ranking 2025. Last year, the institute was in the top five, holding the fifth spot.
