The Noida district magistrate has announced school closure due to dense fog and extreme cold till January 15. As per the Directorate of Education (DoE) Delhi school winter vacation is till January 15, however, several parents have alleged that some private schools have reopened, despite the government’s order.

According to the official notice, all CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP board and other recognised schools operating in Gautam Buddh Nagar district from Classes Nursery to 8 will remain shut.

Earlier, DOE had issued the academic calendar 2025-26 for all Delhi schools, stating the winter and summer vacation dates. Despite the issuance of the academic calendar 2025-26, several private schools had reopened before the winter vacation dates.

Pvt school students not humans?, ask parents

Parents on social media X alleged that some private schools reopened putting students' health at risk amid the extreme cold and dense fog weather conditions.

A user posted on X and said: "Didn't DoE announce winter break till Jan 15 for all schools in Delhi? Am totally unclear on why pvt schools have a separate academic calendar amid coldwave. @CMODelhi @gupta_rekha And how do schools get away after not following the Delhi government instructions?"

“Students in private schools are not humans. They don't feel cold at all. Why is the DoE order only followed by government schools and not private schools,” another user posted.

Recently, the Punjab chief minister S Bhagwant Singh Mann had declared holidays for all private and government schools due to cold weather in the state. All schools shall remain closed till January 13, keeping the health and safety of students in mind.
