Tamil Nadu MBBS fee hiked for NRI, management quota in self-financing medical colleges

In four private medical universities, the revised MBBS course fee is Rs 5.4 lakh for government quota, Rs 16.2 lakh for management quota, and Rs 30 lakh for NRI quota.

Check NowMBBS fees for NRI and management quota in self-financing medical colleges in Tamil Nadu have been increased, the Directorate of Medical Education and Research announced. However, the government quota fee in 21 self-financing medical colleges remains unchanged.
A committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Justice R Pongiappan for fixation of fee in self-financing UG, PG medical colleges.
The panel convened meetings and discussed the rules and regulations set by the National Medical Commission , reviewed expenditure details submitted by the colleges, and considered the opinion of the auditor and members of the committee.
It also examined the requests submitted by the representative colleges, and seat sharing for admission of the students in self-financing colleges.
Based on these factors, the committee increased the fee for management quota seats from Rs 13.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. The fee for NRI quota has been revised from Rs 24.5 lakh to Rs 27 lakh.
In four private medical universities, the revised MBBS course fee is Rs 5.4 lakh for government quota, Rs 16.2 lakh for management quota, and Rs 30 lakh for NRI quota.
The Committee also verified the expenditure statement submitted by the medical colleges, especially in respect to 20 major heads namely salaries, allowance, including PDF for teaching and non-teaching staff, welfare expenses among others.
Revised fees for Tamil Nadu self-financing medical colleges
The revised fee structure for the following medical colleges for this academic year 2025-26, including tuition fee, admission fee, special fee, laboratory/ computer/ internet fee, library fee, sports fee, maintenance and amenities fee, extracurricular activities fee, and other recurring expenditure, is as below. Admission to all the colleges will be done based on NEET 2025 rank through Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling 2025.
