Tamil Nadu NMMS 2023-24 registration starts; exam on February 3, 2024
Students can download the Tamil Nadu NMMS 2023-24 application through dge.tn.gov.in till December 19.

NEW DELHI: Directorate of Government Examination, Tamil Nadu, has started the registration process for the Tamil Nadu NMMS 2023-24 exam. Students can download the Tamil Nadu National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) application on the official website, dge.tn.gov.in.

The directorate said the students aspiring to appear in the NMMS 2023-23 exam can download the application between December 4 and 19. The application has to be submitted with the head of the schools by December 19. Students will have to pay an registration fee of Rs 50 with the application.
Exam date
The Tamil Nadu NMMS exam will be held on February 3 for Class 8 students studying in government and government aided schools recognised by the state government. The exam will have two sections – mental ability test (MAT) and scholastic abilities test (SAT). Students will have to answer 90 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each in in MAT and SAT section. The former will test the non-verbal and verbal meta-cognitive abilities such as reasoning and critical thinking of the candidates.
The questions will be based on analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figure and others. In the SAT section, the questions will test knowledge of science, social studies and mathematics. The questions will be based on Classes 7 and 8 syllabus.

Eligibility criteria
NMMS is a scheme of the union government under which 1 lakh scholarships are awarded annually to selected students from Class 9. The government also continues scholarships in Classes 10 to 12 if students meet the prescribed criteria. The students selected in Tamil Nadu NMMS 2023 exam will be given a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum. Those appearing in the NMMS exam should be studying in state government, government-aided and local body schools and their family income should be less than Rs 3,50,000.
