UGC extends deadline to claim pending dues till January 8
UGC has also decided that no exception request for JRF scholars registered on or before December 31, 2018 will be entertained after December 31, 2024

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has extended the last date to claim the pending dues till January 8, 2025. The commission took the decision after receiving representations from candidates.
“UGC has received several representations to extend the last date for claiming pending dues. It has, therefore, been decided to extend the last date up to 8th January 2025,” read the latest notice.
The commission asked stakeholders to claim their pending dues of fellowship, house rent allowance, contingency on the Scholarship Fellowship Management Portal (SFMP).
Further, UGC has decided that no exception request with respect to the scholars registered or joined as Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) on or before December 31, 2018 will be entertained after December 31, 2024. The provision to apply for an exception request on the fellowship management portal for such scholars will be removed on January 1, 2025, the commission informed.

In September, UGC affirmed the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) that the deadline to claim the dues will be extended. The union led a mass delegation to the commission’s office demanding timely disbursement of JRF fellowships and extension of deadline for claiming pending arrears beyond October 8.
