1,059 persons get jobs at NSDC Kaushal Mahotsav in Sambalpur

As many as 8,000 persons had registered for the NSDC Kaushal Mahotsav of union skill development ministry.

A total of 8.000 persons had registered for the job fair.

NEW DELHI: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan participated in Kaushal Mahotsav in Sambalpur, Orissa. A total of 4,000 turned up during the employment drive and 1095 candidates, including 5 differently-abled persons were allotted a letter of intent. They got a salary between Rs 1.4 lakh to 5 lakh per annum.

The Kaushal Mahotsav was organised by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), at Dhankauda Field in Sambalpur. A total of 8.000 persons had registered for the job fair. The mega job fair was a unique example of public-private partnership and was attended by leading organisations such as Shahi Exports, L&T Finance, Reliance Jio, Beck & Pollitzer, Suryoday Small Finance Bank, and Health Care at Home.

While addressing the crowd at Kaushal Mahotsav, Dharmendra Pradhan said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the unemployment rate has decreased from 6% to 3.2% which brings us closer to our dream of providing jobs to crores of youth a reality. The recent launch of Skill India Digital (SID) aims at building a robust skilling infrastructure which is providing job assistance to 22,000 state beneficiaries. Over the last five-year, the Skill India programmes like Kaushal Mahotsav, have empowered youth in the state.”

He also said: “Skill development is the backbone of all national missions and also for the development opportunities in Odisha, serving as the catalyst for transformative growth. The government has undertaken several recent projects and announcements to fortify this foundation, ensuring that the state is equipped with a skilled workforce ready to contribute to its progress.”

The candidates also got an opportunity to take a free psychometric test and participate in group counselling to get a better perspective on shaping their careers. Registrations for fresh skilling and reskilling under different schemes of MSDE and NSDC were highlighted and Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) also participated to elevate awareness about the evolving landscape of the future of jobs.
